The Canine Bill of Rights
I have the right to
give and receive unconditional love
I have the right to a
life that is beyond mere survival
I have the right to be
trained so I do not become the prisoner of my own misbehavior
I have the right to
adequate food and medical care
I have the right to
socialize with people and dogs outside of my family I have the
right to have my needs and wants respected
I have the right to
special time with my people
I have the right to
only be bred responsibly-if not at all
I have the right to
some time and space all my own
I have the right to be
foolish and silly, and to make my person laugh
I have the right to
earn my person's trust and to be trusted in return
I have the right to be
forgiven
I have the right to die
with dignity
~~ Carolyn Krause

DID YOU KNOW?
-
Every year in the
United States an estimated 5 million animals lose their
lives in shelters because they are homeless.
-
That is one pet
life lost every 6.5 seconds.
-
It costs U.S.
taxpayers an estimated 2 billion each year to round up,
house, kill and dispose of homeless animals.
-
The pet
overpopulation epidemic is so staggering that for every
animal born in the United States to have a home, each and
every human being would have to own 6 dogs and 9 cats.
-
So, in actuality, a
family of four (2 parents and 2 small children) would have
to own 24 dogs and 36 cats.
-
For every child
born, so are 15 dogs and 45 cats.....
-
Number of cats
and dogs entering shelters each year: 6-8 million (HSUS
estimate)
-
Number of cats and dogs euthanized
by shelters each year: 3-4 million (HSUS estimate)
-
Number of animal shelters in the
United States: Between 4,000 and 6,000 (HSUS
estimate)
-
Percentage of
dogs in shelters who are purebred: 25% (HSUS
estimate)
-
Average number
of puppies in a canine litter: 6-10 In six
years, one female dog and her offspring can theoretically
produce 67,000 dogs.

We are a non-profit 501(c)(3), no-kill, animal rescue
organization made up entirely by volunteers. We are dedicated
to rehabilitating, caring for and finding permanent placements
for abused, neglected and unwanted animals in a no-kill
environment. We never euthanize an animal to make room
for another. We care for all the animals we take in
until they are adopted.
