Heidi’s Legacy Dog Rescue Policies and Procedures:

Please Note:  adoption donations are NON-REFUNDABLE
NO EXCEPTIONS

Please fill out your application completely we need to know as much about you as possible before we consider allowing you to adopt one of our fur babies. The information you provide on your application will help us determine the best possible match for you, as well as for the dog. If you do not fill out the application in FULL, or are not 100% truthful, your application will be discarded without further notice. If a question does not apply to you, fill in the blank with "N/A".

Applicants must be at least 18 years old or older.

Please download and read our Adoption Contract, make sure you understand what it says before you adopt one of our fur babies.

Most of our volunteers/foster moms and dads work full time, have families, and have pets of their own, so please be patient we will get back to you as soon as possible!

We require that all animals in the prospective adoptive family be spayed or neutered, up-to-date on rabies and distemper/parvo vaccines, and heartworm tested and on prevention. We feel that "responsible" pet owners fit in this category.

We prefer homes with fenced yards. While this is not necessarily a strict requirement, we firmly take it into consideration when processing applications. If you meet all of our other criteria, but don't have a fenced yard, we will process your application to see if we may still have a match for your family. You must have a plan in place for exercise/potty needs of the adopted dog.

We do not reserve dogs. Even if you seem like the perfect match for a particular dog, we will not hold a dog in a foster home to wait for you to get approved. It is not fair to the dog should another equally as good match be approved and want to adopt. We also will not hold on to a dog for a period of time once you are approved. This is not fair to the dog, to the foster home, or to another needy dog.  We recommend that you get approved before you see a dog you want so that when the right match comes along, you will be ready.

Keep in mind: Rescue dogs need and deserve your patience, whether it be house training, getting along with the other pets or just settling in. Be prepared, they will need time to adjust to your home and family.

**IMPORTANT**

If you are going on vacation or moving, please email your adoption application AFTER you return or when settled into your new home.  We are not able to house dogs until you return that takes up space for another life that could be saved.  Average process time for an adoption application is roughly 1 to 5days.  If you are approved, we will contact you by telephone or email to discuss a meeting time and day
