Adopted from HEIDI'S LEGACY RESCUE  I wanted to share my adoption story with you.

In January of this year, I lost my canine companion of almost sixteen years, Dakotah, due to complications from his advanced age. I was, of course, heartbroken, and in addition, Tucker, my five year old Powderpuff Chinese Crested (also a rescue), needed a buddy. A couple of months after Dakotah passed, I started halfheartedly visiting shelters and checking Petfinder.com. I knew that I wanted a smaller dog, (10 - 30 pounds), I wanted a young dog but not a tiny puppy, and I had a preference for a female. I looked for awhile with no success, and then I found Phoebe (formerly Giselle), a six month old Brussels Griffon/Yorkie mix who had been rescued out of the Miami-Dade shelter by Heidi's Legacy in Lithia, FL. Although smaller than I wanted, at 8 1/2 pounds, she met all my other criteria. Of course once I saw her picture I just fell in love with her, and then when I saw her in person I knew she was the one for me. She has been with us now for six months, and has been a wonderful addition to our family. Thank you Heidi's Legacy for rescuing Phoebe and allowing me to adopt her, and thank you Petfinder for helping me to find her!

Adopted Dog  Sydney  posted 10/20/2008 By: Terri of lakeland, FL

Adopted from HEIDI'S LEGACY RESCUE

It's a weird story how Sid came to us, I just had to put my Buster down due to a medical condition. And like all, I felt like there was no one that I could love again-- like Buster. Well, I was wrong. We had gone to the mall to look at the local pet shops. When got there, i turned around and said to a friend of mine "lets go somewhere else, I cant do this. We have a place here called PETCO, and we were on our way when we saw the most beautiful rainbow over (PETCO). And no cloud in the sky. We went in and spoke to an associate and told her what we were looking for. She said "here, I have got a place for you. It was Heidi's Legacy Dog Rescue. I looked at few (kids as I call them ) and then I saw her, she is so pretty. She was curled in a ball, sleeping on her bed. As in one of her pictures. I knew it was meant to be. When we had gotten all the info, I could not wait to get home and fill out the information . It has been about 4 days but, Sid is laying right next to me and she goes where I go and does everything with me. I have not forgotten BUSTER, but I know, down deep in my heart, that Sydney was sent to me from heaven above. Thank you to PETCO and Heidi's Legacy Dog Rescue and Sid's foster mom and all the foster moms and dads out there. You are truly angle's.

  OZZY From the Cleary Family

Hi!  I wanted to send new photos we had taken of our family which include Ozzie, the dog we adopted over a year ago from Heidi's Legacy.  Hope you enjoy seeing how he has fit into our family - another happy ending

Hallie Selgert 09/22/2007  A Quick Thank You

I adopted my dog, Hope, from you about 2 1/2 years ago.  I wanted to take a moment and send you a couple of pictures and tell you thank you!  Thank you for what you do for these wonderful animals.  Hope has brought our family so very much joy and happiness!  We couldn't imagine our lives without her.  I remember the day that I came to your house to see what you had available to adopt.  I wanted a small dog...the only dog that fit my needs that you had was Hope and she was everything but small - a German Shepard Mix!  When you brought her out she was missing most of her hair on her back and the top of her head due to being burned.  It was so sad.  We were immediately taken by her loving demeanor and her idea of wanting to be a lap dog - we brought her home that day!  Since then she has been, by far, the most wonderful dog I could have ever imagined having in the life of my family.  Thank you for all that you do and thank you for bringing such a wonderful animal into our lives!
